Taj discusses his choice in writing socially conscious music, "When I sit down to write a song, the first thing that jumps to my mind is something that is happening that is affecting all of us. Whatever happens to any individual that is unjust basically happens to all of us. I don't sit down to say, let me write a politically conscious song. When I sit down to write, that is just what comes out of it."
