Dermot Hussey, Program Director of XM Satellite Radio, produces and presents the show “Riffin” five times a week as well as oversees programming for XM's reggae channel, "The Joint" XM 101.  He co-authored "Bob Marley: Reggae King of the World" and produced the Bob Marley interview on Marley's album TALKIN' BLUES. With over 30 years experience in the media, Dermot  Hussey was awarded a Musgrave Medal, a Jamaican award for services to media and music and most recently was inducted into the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Hall of Fame for his contribution to music.

 
Song Of The Year, a proud supporter of VH-1 Save The Music, is an international contest encouraging the art and discipline of songwriting. The Song Of The Year staff has named Taj Weekes a "Suggested Artist", finding his music impressive and suggests it for listening.

Taj Weekes & Adowa were invited to play with reggae legends Toots & The Maytals this past April 4th, 2008 at B.B. King Blues Club in New York City. Friends and fans alike raved about the show rating their performance the highlight of the night. Check out photos here.

In advance of the release of DEIDEM, a new single entitled Hollow Display will be released next month on the internet and to major radio stations in the States and abroad. Weekes will be on location in St. Lucia at the end of February to shoot the music video for Hollow Display, which is planned for release in April.

DEIDEM is set for release throughout Europe in April, followed by nationwide release in the States soon after. Currently the DEIDEM promo, which includes the singles Orphans Cry, For Today and SIPPI a.k.a Louisiana, is available online at DiGStation.

Taj Weekes & Adowa have been selected to perform at the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in Mendocino County, California this June. This is an awesome festival that typically has more than 30 reggae and world beat bands performing each year. The 2007 lineup included Bunny Wailer, Toots & The Maytals, Turbulence, the Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars and many more. The 2008 lineup can only be better with the addition of Taj Weekes & Adowa!

The band has also been invited to perform at the Marketfest on July 10th in Redding, California; Ketch'em Alive on July 15th in Sun Valley, Idaho; Musikfest on August 8th in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; and the Orton Park Festival on August 24th in Madison, WI, which guarantees that Taj Weekes & Adowa will be reaching fans from coast to coast this summer.

SMC Europe, a UK branding and marketing company that has handled campaigns for artists such as Jay-Z, Nas, Shaggy, Stephen and Damian Marley, is actively promoting DEIDEM, focusing on radio airplay in both reggae and mainstream markets. In March, Taj will embark on a promotional tour of the UK to highlight the new album and generate a buzz for summer European performance dates.
